The team that created the Essential Phone, having found themselves out of their lot, decided not to waste their skills and create a smartphone close to the reference Android smartphone. The main focus will be on privacy and data protection. The novelty will be called OSOM OV1 and its formal announcement took place at the end of last year, but the commercial release will take place towards the end of the year.

It was originally planned that OSOM OV1 would be based on the Snapdragon 888 chipset, but the company decided to replace it with a more up-to-date version. Yesterday, the company reminded of itself and its creation by posting a tweet announcing that its first smartphone will receive Snapdragon 8 + Gen 1. The move is quite justified and logical, considering when OSOM OV1 will be released.

It is known that the smartphone will receive premium materials. So, the screen will cover the tempered glass Gorilla Glass Victus, the frame will be made of stainless steel, the back panel will be ceramic and the buttons will be offered from titanium. The display will be OLED with a high refresh rate, a 16MP front camera and a main camera will offer two 48MP + 12MP image sensors. They promise in the kit a special cable with a switch that will work in two modes: for charging or data transfer.
