Apple has released firmware update 2.7.b.0 for the MagSafe Battery Pack external battery, thanks to which the iPhone will charge faster. Now the battery charges at 7.5 instead of 5 watts before the update.

To charge at 7.5W, update your MagSafe battery to the latest firmware. The firmware update starts automatically after you connect the battery to iPhone. The firmware update may take about a week.

But there is a faster way to update the MagSafe Battery Pack:

To update the firmware using a Mac or iPad, connect one end of the Lightning to USB cable to the Lightning connector on the battery and the other end to the Mac or iPad. The firmware update will take about 5 minutes.

The MagSafe external battery is compatible with the iPhone 12 and 13 lines. The device was released in July 2021, but was not in great demand due to its low power of 5 watts. Basically, the battery was bought by users of the iPhone 12 mini, the capacity of which was enough to fully charge the most compact iPhone.

Charging with the standard 20W power adapter is still faster, and the MagSafe battery can come in handy on the go.

To find out what version of firmware is currently installed in the MagSafe battery, go to Settings > General > About this device > MagSafe external battery.
