If you want to turn off the backlight on the iPad Magic Keyboard connected to your iPad Pro or iPad Air, it’s pretty easy to do so. Some users may want to do this to avoid being distracted by backlit keys or to save battery on a connected iPad.

How to turn off the backlight on the iPad Magic Keyboard

Here’s what you need to do to turn off the keyboard backlight:

  1. Go to Settings, then General, then Keyboard.
  2. Select Hardware Keyboard.
  3. Move the Keyboard Brightness slider all the way to the left to turn off the keyboard backlight.

As you probably already figured out, you simply use the Magic Keyboard’s backlight adjustment slider to turn off the backlight.

As long as it is in the leftmost position, it will remain off and the backlight of the iPad Magic Keyboard will not turn back on regardless of lighting conditions.

How to turn on the backlight on iPad Magic Keyboard

Of course, you can turn on the backlit iPad Magic Keyboard by going back to the same slider and moving the slider to the right or somewhere in between, depending on your preference.

  1. Go to Settings, then General, then Keyboard.
  2. Select Hardware Keyboard.
  3. Slide the Keyboard Brightness slider all the way to the right or somewhere in the middle to turn on the keyboard backlight.

Sometimes, though rare, you may need to troubleshoot your iPad Magic Keyboard’s backlight if it’s not working properly, it’s usually an easy fix if something isn’t working properly.
