Dozens of people were injured as powerful storms tore through western Germany on Friday evening, causing extensive damage and bringing transport to a halt. Between 30 and 40 people were injured, at least 10 of them seriously, as a tornado hit Paderborn in North Rhine Westphalia, officials said. “During a thunderstorm, a tornado on Friday afternoon drew a path of destruction from west to east through the middle of Paderborn in the direction of the eastern parts of the city,” the police said.
