I have written about my AirPods Pro more than once. They gave me problems – for example, I handed them in for repair three times due to knocking in droplets. Despite this, I love them and consider them the best headphones I have ever owned.

This year, I was twice convinced why in January 2020 I made the right choice by buying them. I forgot my headphones twice in a cafe and found them both times. All thanks to the new accessory search feature in the Find My app. Previously, it allowed you to determine the last location, but now the headphones can work like AirTag – send signals to nearby Apple smartphones and thereby broadcast their current location.

I’ll tell you how I could be left without headphones due to inattention, but I didn’t.

How did I lose my headphones twice?

I am a remote worker, not attached to the office and really appreciate my work for this feature. At the same time, occasionally I do not work from home, but go out to a cafe to change the picture before my eyes. That is, I occasionally change my location, which means that if I lose something, it will be difficult for me to find this item, because there are a lot of places, and the flow of people in them is huge.

In early February, there was just such a case – I went to work in an institution across from my house. The working day was hard – a lot of tasks and deadlines accumulated, I intensively completed tasks and was completely immersed in projects. This is probably why I left my AirPods Pro on the table when I was going home.

I noticed the loss already at home the next day, when I wanted to listen to music. They are not in the pockets of jeans and jackets, nor in the bag. I didn’t get upset. The headphones cost 20,000 rubles, which is not much for me, besides, the “plugins” are not my only headphones, so I would not feel the loss.

However, I noticed a notification from the Find My app on the iPhone lock screen: “Forgotten: AirPods Pro.” I opened the application and saw that the last time my smartphone detected my accessory was in the cafe where I worked yesterday.

Went there even though I didn’t expect to come home with my headphones. And yet, he took them without any problems. First, I showed the waiters a geotag from the Locator, and then the “programs” themselves connected to my phone, which meant two things: they are here, and those found headphones belong to me.

A similar story happened in March. I put my AirPods Pro on the table at the restaurant and forgot them. This time, the return process went as casually as possible – he approached the waiters, showed a notification from the Locator, and took the headphones.

What is the bottom line?

The update to iOS 15 has revitalized the AirPods Pro line and made them even more attractive to iPhone users. Previously, they could also be searched through the Locator, but only if you were in the interface zone (up to 10 meters), that is, the possibility was, frankly, a toy. In iOS 15, the AirPods Pro and Max models have learned to work on the principle of AirTag – to give out a signal that the iPhones of people passing by receive.

AirPods are the most popular line of TWS earbuds in the world. Sold under the brand with the highest level of loyalty, these accessories are tactilely comfortable, easy to control through other Apple devices, and now they are the most reliable wireless headphones in the world.

Let’s be honest, most people like me. I consistently see people putting their headset case on the table as well, I’m sure I’m not the only one who has trouble paying attention in a public place. The problem is massive, “Locator” solves it.
