Apple Music is betting more than ever on Dolby Atmos, with something new today: a mix produced by Jeff Mills. The songs in the playlist, called “Outer to Inner Atmosphere: The Escape Velocity Mix”, are taken from the Axis catalog. For the occasion, the Detroit techno pioneer DJ also played with the possibilities of audio spatialization.

The streaming service, which will release new mixes in Dolby Atmos every month, intends to revive the One Mix series you may have stumbled upon a while ago. It’s about honoring the achievements of DJs and producers around the world. You will also find on Apple Music 15 new Boiler Room mixes, composed of titles recorded in clubs and at festivals, also suitable for listening in spatial audio.

These new features are the result of the substantive work done by Apple to support DJs, after the establishment last September of a compensation system for rights holders based on Shazam technology.
