According to students of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Sciences has suspended CNKI on April 21. Today, when I log in to the CNKI account of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, I find that I can’t read the paper or download it, only the abstract is supported. The student said that the download was still available yesterday, but it should be disabled today.
Previously, in response to the news of the suspension of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, CNKI issued a statement on April 19 in response that CNKI will continue to provide normal services to the institutes affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences until the agreement is signed and services are activated in 2022.
Since 2000, the average annual price increase of CNKI database fees has exceeded 10%, and it has been nearly 20% in the past ten years. In January 2016, Wuhan University of Technology suspended CNKI “due to outrageous price increases for renewal”, and in March Peking University suspended CNKI because of “not easily compromising on excessive price increases by merchants”. In 2018, Taiyuan University of Technology suspended CNKI, and in 2021, Jimei University shut down CNKI.
