You remember Project Ragtag ? The Star Wars game developed by Visceral Games (Dead Space) and supervised by Amy Hennigbefore eventually being canceled by EA in 2017, meaning the death of the studio ? Well, despite this disappointment, the creative director of the first 3 Uncharted confirms to be in charge of a new Star Wars gamein partnership with Lucasfilm Games.
We don’t know much about this new game developed by Hennig’s studio, Skydance New Mediabut as we can read on the official Star Wars blogthe project seems important for the designer who has already been awarded several times for his entire career, particularly close to the universe imagined by george lucas :
I’ve often described how watching Star Wars in 1977 completely rewired my 12-year-old brain, indelibly shaping my creative life and my future. I’m thrilled to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.
Already at work on a marvel game (also owned by Disney) with the help of talent from the AAA industry, the young video game branch of Skydance has not yet submitted a title at this time. Lucasfilm states that the goal of this partnership is to publish “rich interactive experiences” on classic game platformsand possibly via various streaming services.
In fact, it is difficult to know what kind of game we can expect exactly from Skydance New Media: a 100% narrative-oriented gameor with some action to try to simulate the remains of Project Ragtaghimself particularly inspired by the Uncharted formula ? Even with the support of Lucasfilm Games, does the small studio have the means and the ambitions to produce AAA games ? We will have to wait a little longer to find out what it is all about.
