Analysts from Canalys have calculated that global smartphone sales fell 11% in the first quarter of 2022, with Apple losing the lead to its main rival Samsung.
Unfavorable economic conditions and typically weak seasonal demand contributed to a drop in overall global smartphone shipments, according to Canalys analysts. Leadership in the first quarter of 2022 went to Samsung with a market share of 24%, while Apple dropped to second place with a market share of 18%. For comparison, in the fourth quarter of 2021, the share of Samsung was 19%, and Apple – 22%.
Third place was retained by Xiaomi with a share of 13%, while Oppo was fourth with 10% and vivo was fifth with 8%. Other smartphone manufacturers accounted for 27% of the market.
