“Always in twos, they go”
The balance sheet for the last fiscal year of Embracer Group revealed that Aspyr Media will no longer be alone on the development of the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic : Saber Interactive will provide support and experience so that the project comes to fruition.
Founder and CEO of Saber Interactiveand also member of the board of directors of Embrace, Matthew Karch indicates that the KOTOR remake is ” a massive product“, and that the conglomerate gives itself the means to obtain an interesting result. He will even give an appointment in a few months to take advantage first concrete news.
- Aspyr is totally dedicated to making it the best game possible. When we acquired Aspyr, we knew from the start that they would need our help. [et] Saber has considerable expertise in creating these types of products
- We’re fully confident that the game is going to be fantastic, but it’s a very, very massive product, and massive products take a lot of effort and a lot of time to do well. And especially when you’re talking about a game that’s already old – very old – we basically had to redo everything from scratch.
What is funny is that Aspyr Media became a subsidiary by Saber Interactive following an acquisition in February 2021. Thus, the two entities are already very close.
This should reassure about the means implemented on the remake from Bioware’s legendary RPG who will celebrate his 20th birthday next year. Good that Aspyr specialized in ports of old Star Wars titles on our modern machines for a few years it was hard to imagine how a studio has never developed an original title can attack an obviously very ambitious project.
