With new technologies, the car is no longer just a functional or pleasure tool, but it can become a kind of mobile extension of the home. In Chinese megalopolises where space is limited, the new concept Audi Urbansphere wants to offer a comfortable living bubble.

Presented as a “lounge on wheels“, its cabin offers a vast interior space that can be used as an office or relaxation area outside the house, with the comfort of an electric and autonomous vehicle.

Combining privacy and high-tech functionality, the Audi Urbansphere concept can do without the steering wheel and pedals in autonomous mode and aims to serve as a useful space in the daily traffic jams of big cities.

The Urbansphere favors the passenger experience by not skimping on dimensions so as to offer a vast interior space, with multiple technologies to offer something to relax or work during the journey.

The vehicle takes care of driving (Level 4), parking or charging on its own and can pick up passengers along the way. A real living room, it includes 4 pivoting and tilting armchairs, with the possibility of chatting with neighbors or isolating oneself, each seat having its own sound environment.

Transparent OLED screens dropping from the roof also allow for entertainment or video conferencing. Audi has worked on the quality of the materials in the cabin but also on the ergonomics to make the space pleasant and to make people forget that it is a vehicle, reversing the usual philosophy.

Discreet screens, tactile projections on the interior panels, high view cockpit, voice control, eye tracking, variable lighting…the latest technologies are used to simplify the use of the on-board system and generate an impression of comfort and of security.
