For a small group of users, Instagram is testing more relevant content in the Top and Relays tabs. By doing this, the company removes the Recent tab from the hashtags page. Instagram says the feature aims to “make hashtags as valuable as possible to people.”
Currently, when you select a hashtag, Instagram takes you to the Hashtags page to view the content within that tag. You can view main content, latest content, and Instagram reels. Testing users now see only the best content and videos.
For a small group, we are testing more recent and timely content on the Top and Catalogs tabs in hashtags and removing the Recent tab. We want to see if this helps people find more interesting and relevant hashtag content and keep it up to date. pic.twitter.com/nLb6BiFRws

Instagram has long been trying to make its videos more like short video giant TikTok. The platform has made a number of recent changes, another of which was announced earlier today by parent company Meta.
Recently, Instagram also tested a feature that allows you to discover social causes through hashtag searches. In addition, the hashtag page has a “Spread the word” button, allowing users to share the page with others in their private messages. The company has been putting a lot of emphasis on hashtags lately, and we’ll likely see more soon.
