We’ve known for a while that there will be a next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. In fact, the edition should appear in the second quarter of 2022, but in April of this year was then postponed indefinitely. There were some signs that fans will have to wait for the graphics update for quite some time, but at least the developers assured that the next-gen update won’t be in the development hell is located.
The title was not originally developed internally at CD Projekt Red, but at Saber Interactive, which also worked on The Witcher 3 (buy now €28.21): Complete Edition for the Nintendo Switch. The reason given for the postponement was that the rest of the development would be handled by CD Projekt Red, which of course made some fans fear that the work on the project could take quite a long time.
The Witcher 3 next-gen update is coming later this year
Fortunately, as it stands, this is not the case. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt celebrates its seventh birthday this year, and on this occasion announced the official Twitter channel of The Witcher, that the new next-gen update should be released in the fourth quarter of this year.
This announcement should also please some fans who were actually looking forward to Starfield, the new RPG from Bethesda. This should appear in the same period as the next-gen Witcher update, however, was recently postponed along with Redfall. The new The Witcher update is now very comfortably squeezed into this gap, with which RPG fans will certainly have a lot to do.
