A woman standing near her disabled vehicle on the New Jersey Turnpike was struck and killed by a tractor- trailer Monday night, police said. The truck driver, a 57-year-old man from Elkridge, Maryland, was traveling north near milepost 1.6 in Carneys Point Township at about 11 p.m. when he swerved onto the left shoulder to avoid a disabled vehicle in the roadway, according to a New Jersey State Police spokeswoman.
