IT House April 18 news, US wireless carrier Verizon said Monday that amid a tight labor market and rising inflation, they will raise the minimum wage for all new/existing customer service, retail and internal employees to $20 per hour.
Verizon also said it will offer signing bonuses for retail specialist and assistant manager positions in some U.S. locations.
U.S. retailer Walmart, pharmacy chain Walgreen Boots Alliance and restaurant operator Chipotle Mexican Grill have all raised base wages for their employees in recent months to lure more people back to work.
“These changes are a direct result of employee feedback and will help us remain an attractive employer in this competitive environment,” said Krista Bourne, chief operating officer of Verizon Consumer Group.
