A year ago, we learned that Sega was working on its Super Game initiative, a project of several games with the aim of providing a recurring source of income to the publisher by using its cult licenses. We were entitled to more details concerning this project at the beginning of April and today new elements are reaching us.

Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio back soon

In the columns of Bloomberg, we learn that big budget reboots of Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio are in preparation. Crazy Taxi would also be in development for more than a year and would aim for a release within two to three years.

Fortnite’s model and success are acclaimed and perfectly reflect Sega’s desire to create strong communities around its licenses while generating continuous revenue. These two reboots should therefore take on the air of a service game with, one imagines, in particular many cosmetic objects to buy.

It is Shuji Utsumi who leads this initiative and 4 games of this type are currently in development. We know that an FPS whose goal is to offer “content and services that can create a large community” and generate the equivalent of 780 million dollars over its entire lifespan, for example, is in preparation.

If it is currently difficult to know what to think of “Super Game”, remember that in parallel, Sega is also working on Sonic Frontiers. The game premiered last December and is due out in 2022.
