Chinese collectors auctioned Qianlong jade seal in Paris for nearly 5 million: Qianlong engraved more than 1,800 square seals

April 15th local time, Qing Qianlong lion jasper jade was exhibited and auctioned at Drouot auction house in Paris. The seated lion above the lion-button tourmaline is beautifully carved, with the left paw on the hydrangea, and the seal below the seal engraved with the inscription “Treasure of Qianlong’s relatives and virtuous people”. The starting price is 300,000 to 400,000 euros.

The auction collection also includes a batch of Chinese Qing Dynasty artworks such as the sapphire carved double-fish pattern butterfly ear ring and the five-legged wash, and the white jade carved peony flower water. It is reported that on the day of the auction, the Qing Dynasty Qianlong lion-shaped jadeite was finally placed under the hammer at 720,000 euros (approximately RMB 5 million), and was won by a Chinese collector.

According to a rough estimate from the “Baoshu of Qianlong” and the real objects in the collection, the number of seals engraved by Qianlong in his lifetime was as many as 1,800 squares, the most in all dynasties. Due to historical reasons, two or three hundred Qianlong seals have been lost around the world, and many Qianlong jade seals have been exhibited at auctions around the world.

The seal below this jade seal is engraved with the inscription “Treasure of Qianlong’s relatives and virtuous people”. At the auction site, the staff also introduced how to identify it through materials.
