Less than six months before Apple unveils the Apple Watch Series 8, this upcoming smartwatch is once again rumored to feature a flat-edged design. After leakers and analysts backed that the Apple Watch Series 7 will have this new look, rumors are now pointing to this year’s model.

Originally posted on Twitter ShrimpApplePro and now highlighted by YouTuber Jon Prosser, who first said that the Apple Watch Series 7 will have a flat-edge design, it looks like the Series 8 could have a new look, in addition to more sensors.

ShrimApple Pro writes:

Today, it became known from a source that the Apple Watch display is provided with a flat front glass display. The big change is that this is the front glass for the Apple Watch Series 8. So far, I have not heard anything about the redesign of the case and which model.

While Jon Prosser also carefully confirms that this new design will indeed appear on the Apple Watch Series 8, both say this could be the look of a future watch.

ShrimpApplePro also brought back an old tweet about the Apple Watch Series 7, in which they largely correctly predicted the model launched last year – except for the flowers.

While no other analyst wants to bet on the Apple Watch Series 8 redesign, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman believes it will be one of the biggest years for the Apple Watch, with up to three models introduced.

He also says that Apple is preparing a more powerful SoC and body temperature sensor, which will be the newest sensor to be introduced after blood oxygen measurement in the Apple Watch Series 6.

The Wall Street Journal also confirmed the new sensor rumor in a story published a few months ago:

WSJ: “The sensor’s planned use in 2022 will be for fertility planning, people say, giving women clues about where they are in their ovulation cycle.”
