According to TheElec, Samsung SDI will decide within this (4) month the location of its electric vehicle battery joint venture with automaker Stellantis.

The South Korean battery maker recently ended discussions with a local government in North America about subsidies, the sources said.

Meanwhile, LG Energy Solution is also expected to finalize details of its joint venture with Stellantis. It was revealed in March that the joint venture would be based in Ontario, Canada. The South Korean company said it plans to invest 4.8 trillion won and aims to have a capacity of 45GWh by 2026.

Stellantis had earlier said it planned to spend 30 billion euros by 2025 to shift production to electric vehicles.

LG Energy Solution is expected to supply long-axis (600mm) and short-axis (300mm) pouch cells for Stellantis, while Samsung SDI will supply its prismatic cells.
