Ookla has released its latest US Mobile and Fixed Broadband Speed Report. Continuing the trend, T-Mobile won for the best mobile performance across the board at about 2x the speed of AT&T and Verizon, and for the highest consistency and availability. Meanwhile, for fixed broadband, Verizon edged out XFINITY for the fastest service.
Ookla, the maker of Speedtest, shared the Q1 2022 US Mobile and Broadband Internet Performance Report on its website today.
When it comes to mobile devices, T-Mobile has once again outperformed the competition, as evidenced by recent Opensignal research results.
US Mobile Speed in Q1 2022
According to Ookla research, the average download speed for T-Mobile increased from 90.65 Mbps in the fourth quarter of last year to 117.83 Mbps in the first quarter of this year. Verizon and AT&T showed about half of the average speeds – 62.62 and 56.10 Mbps, respectively.
T-Mobile also won for the highest consistency, affordability, and vastly outperformed AT&T and Verizon with 5G speed.
US broadband speed in Q1 2022
In terms of fixed broadband internet, Verizon again took the top spot with an average download speed of 184.35Mbps, with XFINITY and Cox following at 179.12 and 174.32, respectively.
Verizon also leads with the lowest latency of 8ms and the highest consistency of 90.6%.
