Shortly after unveiling its new headphone covering WH-1000XM5, the Sony group is not done with quality audio products and is now announcing the LinkBuds S in-ear format.
We are this time on TWS wireless headphones which are compact and efficient. Sony does not hesitate to qualify them as “the smallest and lightest in the worldwhile promising a premium sound experience.
Weighing only 4.8g, each earpiece offers a design that hugs the ear comfortably with a silicone tip to provide a first level of passive isolation from ambient noise.
The headphones also offer a active noise reduction with function Adaptive Sound Control adapting settings to maintain audio quality everywhere.
We also find the function Precise Voice Pickup to reduce surrounding noise and wind noise during a telephone conversation. For music quality, the LinkBuds S are compatible with the codec LDAC and provide support DSEE Extreme (sort of sound upscaling to complete missing frequencies and improve audio quality).
Function Speak-to-Chat allow you to hold a conversation with a person nearby, the music automatically pausing and then resuming. We will also find compatibility with digital assistants Google Assistant and Alexa.
For the music as for the game
The new headphones are compatible Bluetooth LE and may be suitable for listening to music or playing games thanks to their low latency. On this second aspect, they can generate spatialized sound and Sony indicates that it has collaborated with Niantic Labs to provide a particularly immersive experience on the augmented reality game Ingress.
The pairing will be facilitated by the techniques Fast Pair (Android) and Swift Pair (Windows). In terms of battery life, their compact size limits them to 6 hours of operation with noise reduction.
The fast charge provides 60 minutes of listening in just 5 minutes and the case promises an additional 14 hours. TWS headphones Sony LinkBuds S will be available from here at the end of May at the price of 199 €.
