Starting this week, Apple Music is streaming some major artists’ shows as part of Apple Music Live. This new feature kicks off with a Harry Styles concert on Friday, coinciding with the release of his third album, Harry’s House.
Apple Music subscribers in 167 countries can watch live streams at no additional cost. From Apple Music:
No matter how much time and effort an artist may spend creating music in the studio, it is on stage that they can really show their work. Apple Music Live is a new recurring series designed to do just that: to give the biggest music stars the greatest possible platform to showcase how they interact with the public and how their songs are streamed live.
Harry Styles’ One Night Only in New York concert will take place at the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York. On Apple Music, fans can check out Zane Lowe’s interview with Harry about the making of House of Harry. There’s also a link to pre-add the album to your library, as well as playlists featuring the Sign of the Times singer.
You can watch One Night Only in New York live at 9:00 pm ET on Friday. If this time doesn’t suit you, there will be encores at noon ET on May 22nd and 5am ET on May 26th. Engadget contacted Apple to see if the concert would be available on demand at a later date. An Apple spokesperson said the company has “nothing to announce at the moment.”
Sight
While this feature is new, this isn’t Apple’s first rodeo in the realm of live concert streaming. Back in 2007, she hosted the iTunes Festival in the UK and moved it to the US in 2014. A few years later, the company stopped the festival. As a Harry Styles fan, I can check it out on Friday. I love that this service is more profitable – if you can’t afford a gig, no big deal! You can visit one without leaving your home.
