One of our colleagues fromEurogamer, Ian Higton, was able to get his hands on a VR mod for Resident Evil VII and Resident Evil: Village. Developed by Praydog, who had already done the exercise for the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3, this modification brings controller support and full body display (not just hands). The journalist shares his experience in a long video that makes you want to. Despite a few bugs here and there, the result is quite impressive, knowing that it’s the work of a single person. Inevitably, we think of the port of Resident Evil 4 on Oculus, which had required several years of work for an entire team, but a priori, the level of immersion is still not similar: here, the objects cannot be entered and reloading is done by pressing a key. However, Praydog clarifies that all modding tools are open, and anyone can develop a mod to do so.
The mod for the last two Resident Evil is still in the testing phase and should be officially released within a week or two. In the meantime, you can still download it on the creator’s GitHub and take a look at his concept page, which details the information required to install everything and set the options correctly. If you want to support him, know that he has a page Patreon.
