Microsoft will revise its licensing terms to allow cloud service providers to better compete in response to complaints from rivals, President Brad Smith announced on Wednesday. Previously, Microsoft has been fined 1.6 billion euros (about 11.4 billion yuan) by the EU antitrust regulator. Microsoft is taking the first steps to address those concerns, but not the last, Smith told a Brussels conference at European think tank Bruegel. He said Microsoft wants to listen to these complaints and take action. Those changes include allowing cloud service providers to offer Windows as a full desktop operating system to customers, offering long-term price protection, and revising licensing terms, Smith said. Earlier, Microsoft was once again targeted by EU competition enforcement agencies after German software provider NextCloud, French cloud computing company OVHcloud and two other companies filed antitrust complaints against Microsoft’s cloud computing business. .
