A few weeks ago, European parliamentarians voted in favor of a proposal to impose USB-C on technology companies as the standard charger on all small electronic devices like smartphones and tablets. According to rumors, Apple would be testing this type of charger on its iPhones.

Recently, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is particularly knowledgeable about Apple brand products, claimed that the American company had finally decided to abandon its Lightning technology for USB-C. Today, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that people “with knowledge of the situation” claim that testing of USB-C on Apple-branded smartphones is underway.

Apple sees the switch to USB-C as a brake on evolution. However, the firm will not be able to escape it if European regulations are adopted. Mark Gurman notes that this technology will not be available on iPhones until 2023, because the iPhone 14, which is scheduled for release in the fall of 2022, will still be equipped with Lightning cables.

This change should not displease users. They will not only be able to charge their mobile devices with a single charger, but will also benefit from faster transfer and charging speeds.
