Russian President Vladimir Putin warned on Monday that bids by Finland and Sweden to join the NATO military alliance would increase tensions between Russia and the West. “This aggravates the already uneasy international situation in the field of security,” Putin said on Monday at a meeting of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), a Russia-led military alliance seen by Moscow as a counterweight to NATO.
