The dark knight will be entitled to a new UFO series in September signed Lee Bermejo.

Since the success of The Batman by Matt Reeves, the Dark Knight comics are more popular than ever. The director has proven that it is possible to draw inspiration from the origins of DC Comics while paying a vibrant tribute to the cult authors of the saga. This time, it’s not on the big screen but on glossy paper that Bruce Wayne will be making a comeback. Lee Bermejo is preparing to deliver a new series around the character. After his high-flying work on The Batman Who Laughsthe designer has formalized Batman: Dear Detectivea mini-series with the air of a graphic novel, which illustrates the art of making new out of old.

No comic strip, but an illustrated album

More than just a comic book, this new creation by Lee Bermejo will be available in a series of illustrated plates, accompanied by text in prose. A short novel, which will take the form of several texts, written in the form of a letter addressed to the Dark Knight. With its 56 pages, Batman: Dear Detective however, will offer little or no new illustrations, too bad for fans of Lex’s designer Luthor and Joker. Each of the full illustrated plates present in the book has in fact already been published in the form of an alternative cover for the old issues of Detective Comics.

On the other hand, everything should bring a second level of reading to the illustrations, the work of Lee Bermejo on Dear Detective being linked to a starting idea like a treasure hunt, and not to a simple collection of scattered boards.

With this new format with an original concept, Bermejo should once again prove that he has his place in the Pantheon of the most outstanding authors in the history of the Dark Knight. The output of Batman: Dear Detective is scheduled for September 6 in the United States. A arrival in France under the aegis of Urban Comics is therefore to be expected by the end of the year, the French publishing house having for several years bet heavily on the work of Bermejo.
