IT House April 17 news, recently, the Linux 5.19 kernel has added support for several features, one of which is Raptor Lake-S graphics driver support in the PCI ID section of the kernel. Now,Raptor Lake-P support is also here.

Similar to Intel’s Alder Lake-P series and previous models, the next-generation Raptor Lake-P series will be suitable for lightweight, high-performance laptops. Preliminary support for this processor has been committed to the Linux 5.19 kernel, and PCI device IDs have been added to the i915 graphics driver.

With the latest support added in the Linux 5.19 kernel, the developers added about 24 new lines of code to activate Raptor Lake-P support, including the Raptor Lake-P PCI ID 0xA720, 0xA721, 0xA7A0, 0xA7A1, 0xA7A8, and 0xA7A9.

IT House learned that Intel’s next-generation CPU, codenamed Raptor Lake, is expected to provide 24 cores, 32 threads and higher performance core IPC. The 13th Gen Raptor Lake processors are based on the 10nm ESF process node (also known as “Intel 7”) and support current LGA 1700 motherboards. The new chipset will offer dual-channel DDR5-5600 memory support, 20 PCIe Gen 5 lanes, enhanced overclocking capabilities and a TDP PL1 rating of 125W.

Intel is expected to release Raptor Lake in the second half of this year.
