Google and Samsung are now announcing that they will collaborate on an API that will give developers tools to sync users’ health data between different Android apps and devices. If a user then chooses to transfer their data between different apps via Health Connect, all data is collected in an encrypted file that does not leave the user’s device, in order to then be able to transfer. Google says users have full control over which apps access the data and which data is shared.
Health Connect will support 50 different data types such as activity, heart rate, bike tracking, diet and sleep, it will be available in an open beta version for all Android developers.
