Didn’t understand the end of Moon Knight on Disney+? Do not panic, the screenwriter provides some details on this intriguing final.
On May 4, in front of the dumbfounded eyes of spectators, Marc Spector and Steven Grant said goodbye to Disney+. The series written by Jeremy Slater ended on a cliffhanger, which many didn’t quite understand. As rumors of a season 2 grow, the creator reflects on this controversial finale and what it means for the character in the future.
During an interview with The Direct, Jeremy Slater focused mainly on Jake Lockley’s last-minute introduction. If the readers of the comics could expect it, the arrival of a third personality will undoubtedly have surprised more than one. However, there were some clues pointing in that direction.
We can first mention the romantic date of which Steven has no memory, the double reflection several times in the mirrors and glazing, as well as a fight scene which neither of the two characters seems to remember.
However, according to Jeremy Slater, no one was able to imagine that a third thief had invited himself to the party. “Yes, we kept him out. Basically, because Marc and Steven needed to come to terms with who they were. They had to understand who they were inside the system.”
Marc, Steven or Jake
The creator returned in more detail to the dramatic scope of the story, and the introspective journey of the character portrayed by Oscar Isaac. “I’ve seen people say it all comes back to Marc accepting Steven, but from my perspective, it’s always Steven’s decision that balances things in the end.”
A deliberately nebulous end
The last episode of Moon Knight, whether we like it or not, remains very subject to the interpretation of the spectators. Voluntarily, the screenwriters maintain the mystery about the veracity of the sequences and the very nature of the story. A situation that seems to suit Jeremy Slater, who revels in fan theories on Twitter.
“I love that fans have their own theories and people argue about it in my Twitter mentions about it. I think it’s really fun.”
A season 2?
While Loki is the only one to have been renewed for a season 2, Moon Knight could follow the same path. On Twitter, the platform changed the description of the last episode. She was mentioning “final series” before being replaced by “final season” thus leaving the door open to a sequel. It remains to be seen when and if it will be confirmed.

The reception of the series is rather mixed. While many criticize him for his uniqueness in the MCU, others seem to have greatly appreciated the journey to the heart of the psyche of Marc Spector and his alter-egos.
