Skyrim fan lets river forest shine again

The Unreal Engine 5 can also make a ten-year-old game like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim shine again. After the YouTuber Hall 00117 already prettied up a watchtower in the roleplaying game, he now has one too tended to the village of Riverwood. The tranquil town is one of the first places players visit in Skyrim, and it has arguably never looked better.

The video of Skyrim in next-gen graphics has also caught the attention of the community on Reddit. There the fans wish that The Elder Scrolls 6 in the hopefully not too distant future one day will look like this. However, they are also concerned that videos like this will make Bethesda release a prettier Skyrim rather than develop a new game. (Source: Reddit)

The Elder Scrolls: The game could be so beautiful

Just last year, Epic Games presented a tech demo the new Unreal Engine 5 before and programmers and developers can already play around with the trial version. Since Skyrim has been a haven for modders for years, it’s not surprising that fans are already testing the game to see what the software can do.

This idea also came to YouTuber Hall 00117, who has long been trying to turn popular games into graphical wonders. Using his existing Skyrim materials, he tested how well they would work with Unreal Engine 5 and Nanite and the result is amazing – the game has never looked so beautiful:

The Elder Scrolls: Sixth Part is still a long time coming

While Hall 00117’s project looks impressive, it’s been years Fans are actually looking forward to the sixth part of the series. Bethesda announced it back in 2016, but according to Todd Howard, the studio would not yet have the technical capabilities needed for the new role-playing epic.

“It’s good that The Elder Scrolls 6 is officially still in a design phase. We’re thinking about the tech: ‘Will the game be able to handle what we’re trying to do?’ Every game will need new technologies, so The Elder Scrolls 6 will need some additions to Creation Engine 2,” Howard said in an interview with TheTelegraph.

It remains to be seen what background story the sixth part of the series will bring – and whether it will tie in with what happened in Skyrim. We will keep you up to date.
