TFI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo tweeted that Apple is exploring e-ink color displays for future foldable iPhones and iPads.
The e-ink display can be used as an external display, Kuo said, while the foldable panel will remain OLED. The analyst is confident that e-ink color displays will be more energy efficient than other types of screens.
Rumor has it that Apple plans to launch a 9-inch foldable tablet first in 2025, and the first foldable iPhone could come out in 2027.
