New releases are pouring in on players week after week. Many highlights and insider tips are being overlooked more and more often. And just such a game could be Winter Ember: A stealth action adventure, for which the developers were heavily inspired by the genre classic Thief. However, this time it’s not about the Dark Ages, but a more modern setting: the adventure is set in the Victorian city of Anargal, where you have to complete a wide variety of missions. You play Arthur Artorias, the sole survivor of a massacre who returns after eight years to hunt down those responsible and exact revenge. You are clearly following in the footsteps of the master thief Garrett, albeit from an unusual perspective: Similar to Metal Gear Solid or Diablo, the entire adventure is played from an isometric top-down view.

Weapons and abilities are more reminiscent of Thief: You move silently through the shadows, ambush enemies, fight swords or attack enemies with a bow. You can make your own arrows, the developers promise over 30 variants such as smoke, poison, ice and fire arrows. The environment should also be used again and again, with some arrows you can tear down walls, for example, others create a climbing rope that Arthur can use to reach high places. There’s a first taste in the trailer.

The missions can be solved in different ways. You can also skill Arthur in different directions: You have three talent trees at your disposal, which contain more than 70 passive and active skills, divided into the areas of stealth, combat and utility.
