Shortly before the release of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, the price of AMD’s CPU flagship falls. The Ryzen 9 5950X is now available for 529 euros, which is the lowest price for the 16-core so far.

Since Thursday there have finally been the first tests on the performance of the new Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which has made a significant leap in gaming performance and efficiency thanks to the additional 3D V cache. The only disadvantage is the only moderate performance in applications and the high price, because with an RRP of 489 euros, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is not a bargain. Nevertheless, the newcomer will have an impact on the CPU price structure even before its market launch, which is scheduled for April 20th.

The flagship is getting cheaper

With its 16 cores, AMD’s AM4 flagship, the Ryzen 9 5950X, is aimed more at content creators than at gamers – so there is actually no direct competition to the Ryzen 7 5800X3D to be feared. Nevertheless, the Ryzen 9 5950X has dropped in price suspiciously in the last few days. A month ago you had to pay 590 euros for the processor, but the model has been available for 529 euros for a few days. This is the lowest price so far, in the year and a half since its release, the Ryzen 9 5950X has never been offered for less money. A similar development can also be observed with the Ryzen 9 5900X – we reported on this yesterday.

Price history: Ryzen 9 5950X

While AMD’s Ryzen 9 processors are becoming cheaper, they also secure the top spots in popularity in the PCGH price comparison. The Ryzen 9 5900X currently occupies first place there, followed by the Ryzen 7 5800X and the Ryzen 9 5950X. AMD’s Vermeer family is also in 4th and 5th place: The Ryzen 7 5700X and the Ryzen 5 5600X can be found here.

Intel only appears in the lower half of the top 10: 6th and 7th place go to the Core i7-12700K and the Core i5-12400F, and 9th and 10th place are occupied by the Core i5-12600K and Core i9-12900K models . The company’s new flagship, the Core i9-12900KS, is not represented in the top 10. In view of the high surcharge and additional consumption compared to the Core i9-12900K, this is probably not too surprising.
