AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X3D …

Background: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D

On April 20th, the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D will be the first processor with a so-called “3D V-Cache”. This is a die-on-die stacking technology that provides a 64 MiByte SRAM cache – in addition to the existing 32 MiByte on-die cache. The CPU therefore has a whopping 96 MiByte Level 3 cache, which can cushion access to the relatively slow main memory. How exactly the 3D cache works is covered in a separate article.

The AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D comes with eight cores, 16 threads and a boost of up to 4.5 GHz (on one core). In the test, we were able to read an all-core boost of 4.45 GHz and a single-core boost of 4.55 GHz. The TDP is 105 watts, which means a maximum PPT (Package Power Tracking) of 142 watts. In the detailed test of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, PCGH draws the following conclusion: “On the exciting development journey of AMD Zen, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is the next stage of evolution. With the eight-core processor, AMD is only addressing gamers who value maximum performance. The superiority leaves AMD gilds itself: For 489 euros, the 5800X3D will be sold on April 20, 2022. This means that AMD currently has the CPU with the highest gaming efficiency and the highest gaming performance in its portfolio.” Read bluntly what the PCGH editors say about the Ryzen 7 5800X3D in the picture gallery.
