For the first time in a long time, Xiaomi is releasing an update to one of the most important system programs – Camera. In addition to visual changes in the new version, several new settings and features have been added that expand the functionality of smartphones.
In this article, we will talk in detail about what has changed, which models of the update can already be installed on, and also share information about the “third wave” of MIUI 13 updates officially announced by Xiaomi.
Camera
Before we talk about the new features of the program, let’s look at some photos to show the difference between the stable and updated versions.
As you can see, the new version does a better job with autofocus and in some shots it sets a more correct white balance value. There was a feeling that Xiaomi overlooked the blur coefficient, because when the object is selected, the so-called “bokeh” looks more natural.
As for the new features, first of all, it is necessary to highlight the burst mode, to activate which you need to hold down the shutter button and move it from right to left and vice versa, while the number of shots taken will be displayed on the screen.
As a result, when you start the gallery, all the pictures taken (maximum 50) will be collected in one file from which you can select one or more frames you like. This mode is especially useful for shooting moving subjects such as animals.
If you go to the application settings, you will notice that in the “Volume buttons function” section, an option has been added to activate the shooting timer, which Xiaomi announced six months ago.
Also, Xiaomi has redesigned some of the switches, and in our opinion, they look more intuitive.
Owners of smartphones running MIUI 13 (Android 12) can install updates, but a version for MIUI 12.5 (Android 11) should appear in the coming weeks.
Third wave of updates
An official statement from a Xiaomi representative has shed light on which smartphones will start receiving MIUI 13 next. In fact, this means that by the end of May, global firmware versions (MI) will be released:
MIUI 13
However, it is worth noting that owners of smartphones: Redmi Note 9, Redmi 9T and Redmi 9 will have to wait longer than others. Due to compatibility issues, the firmware for these models will be released at the end of summer.
As for the timing of the release of MIUI 13 (for the above smartphones) in the RU, ID, etc. indices, Xiaomi plans to release the corresponding firmware before the end of July this year.
