A world that is fictional, but not if you come from it … type?
Last weekend was finally announced Kingdom Hearts 4. The trailer has of course been dissected by fans, who among other things speculate that Star Wars may be one of the world we get to visit. One world we will definitely spend time in is called Quadratum, which looked like the Shibuya area of Tokyo in the trailer.
In an interview with Famitsu (Japanese), however, Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura says that Quadratum is not the real world, but rather can be described as a fictional afterlife.
At least from the perspective of Soras and the others, because the inhabitants of Quadratum instead see their world as the real one and Soras and his friends’ side as the fictional one – if anyone thought the action would be easier to understand, that is not likely to be the case. In any case, Nomura seems set on exploring “contrasts between characters in different positions”.
Something many reacted to in the advertising trailer is that Sora now has a very realistic look, but Nomura says that his design will once again resemble Kalles and Långbens if he manages to get back to his own world.
We do not yet have a release date for the game, but at least we know it will use Unreal Engine 5.
