UFC 5 development has been rumored to be delaying the reboot of the popular Fight Night series.
Even if EA hasn’t made any announcements about Fight Night yet, there have been and still are rumors in recent years about a reboot of the series. As insider Tom Henderson does now tweetsthe development of the boxing game is in direct competition with EA SPORTS UFC 5, the latest spin-off of which was released almost two years ago.
So while the development of UFC 5 is considered certain, Henderson assumes that boxing fans will have to wait until the release of the MMA sim in the summer of 2023 at best.
The EA Canada team will first focus on the creation and release of UFC 5 and will not have the capacity for a Fight Night revival until after that, Tom estimates. As of today, however, both games have not even been officially confirmed by EA. Friends of classic fistfights in particular can hope that the quote “They never come back” will not come true in the end.
However, these rumors are not entirely new. Back in November, we reported that EA may have approved the making of Fight Night but is having to “pause” it due to the latest UFC offshoot.
So it remains to be seen when you can get back into the ring.
