The world of Elden Ring is vast, and either death or the successful defeat of a powerful opponent lurks around every corner – this can keep you busy for weeks. Nevertheless, FromSoftware probably also has an eye on those who have already finished the main plot: measures are already planned to keep all long-term Eldenlords happy.
As FromSoftware parent company Kadokawa makes clear in financial reports, they are currently considering how to keep players connected to the Elden Ring now that some large parts of the game have already ended.
To a question in the FAQs (Page 39 in PDF) about the sales figures the company is aiming for by 2023, the answer was: “We are considering a number of measures so that customers can continue to enjoy this title.”

Could this be a reference to DLCs? In fact, it would be very surprising if no expansions were released for Elden Ring. For one, it has sold 13.4 million units, according to Kadokawa’s financial report, exceeding expectations. On the other hand, previous FromSoftware titles such as the Dark Souls series also had a few tough, heavy DLCs for even more pleasure and frustration à la Soulslike.
So the question isn’t if DLC will come, but rather when. Neither a time for the first content packs nor possible content, opponents or areas are known so far. However, I would suspect that it could be crunchy-heavy late-game content, such as the Oolacile area in Dark Souls 1.
