During a presentation evoking its financial results for the last financial year, the Japanese company confirmed the arrival of a large number of new titles in the coming months.

A record year ahead?

In addition to increased profits compared to the 2020-2021 fiscal year, Sega Sammy, the publisher’s parent company, also mentions even higher figures for 2023 and attributes this forecast to a “significant increase in the number of titles” taking the form of “remake, remaster and spin-off”, but also of original work.

But Sega will also continue to capitalize on the revenue generated by recently released games. Indeed, the Japanese firm claims to have sold around 4 million copies of titles considered remasters, remakes or spin-offs, such as Sonic Colors Ultimate, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania and Lost Judgment.

As for its full catalog, Sega says seven titles released in the last fiscal year and hit the six million mark in sales between them seven. For the fiscal year ending in 2023, the company is reportedly planning to double that figure thanks in particular to the marketing of thirteen games benefiting from a simultaneous global launch.

Thus, the next important deadline for the Japanese publisher is the marketing of Sonic Origins on June 22 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X. This compilation will bring together Sonic, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles as well as Sonic CD in more current versions with, as a bonus, new content.
