A Cessna seaplane lifts off from Lake Como with all the grace of a bird. Inside, a breeze blows through the cabin from the side window, drying any anxious perspiration. Plenty of people who board the fragile-looking vintage Bird Dog may feel slightly uneasy. “Don’t worry,” says Cesare Baj, the pilot who has almost as many flying hours behind him as the seaplane that was built in 1946.
