As can also be seen from the annual report, the area of digital entertainment in particular is the reason for the strong increase in profits. The title appeared on PC and consoles, but also on smartphones and, like many mobile games, can be played for free.
So the game drives the massive wins thanks microtransactions and with more than 30 million downloads by the end of April, they were certainly numerous. According to the financial report, the physical Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, which you can buy in physical boosters at kiosks, in toy shops or in specialist shops as before, continue to be very successful.
In addition, in the field of “entertainment” one also mentions the Pachinko machines: The hobbyhorse for which Konami is probably best known, apart from the game series mentioned at the beginning of the article. The arcade machines are still a real hit in Japan! For some fans, however, these numbers should not trigger feelings of happiness: After all, why should Konami care about old brands when the current business model is bringing in record sums?
