Paris, May 12, 2022 – SQUARE ENIX® and video game developer hand, Inc., announce that The Centennial Case: A Shijima Storya thrilling mystery game with live-action scenes is now available on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Nintendo Switch™ and PC (STEAM®) consoles

Directed by Koichiro Ito (Metal Gear Solid V) and produced by Junichi Ehera (NieR:Automata), THE CENTENNIAL CASE: A SHIJIMA STORY tells the story of the Shijima, a cursed family that has suffered a series of inexplicable deaths over the past hundred years. Yasuhito Tachibana, producer of The Naked Director on Netflix, is the game’s cinematographer and screenwriter. He takes visual storytelling to new heights with his art direction and thrilling live-action gameplay.

Players take on the role of detective novelist Haruka Kagami and must gather information about the Shijima family, scattered across multiple eras. To solve this old mystery, they use their powers of deduction and time travel.

THE CENTENNIAL CASE: A SHIJIMA STORY comes to life thanks to the interpretations of talented Japanese actors and actresses who give substance to this enigmatic adventure in which they interpret several characters from each era. Nanami Sakuraba portrays the protagonist, Haruka Kagami, and Yuta Hiraoka portrays the character of Eiji Shijima, the second son of the Shijima family who has returned home to help unravel the mystery plaguing his family.

The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story is billed as a live-action drama focusing on the murders that have occurred in the Shijima family over the past hundred years. Players will help characters clear up these murder cases. The game footage was filmed in live action, so keep an eye out for expressions, gestures and subtle movements that are impossible to capture in CG games! I hope you have a great time unraveling the mysteries surrounding these incidents with Haruka! says Nanami Sakuraba.

My first reaction to this story that takes place in several eras was to think “Is it even possible? ”, followed by “This script is really extraordinary”! » The amount of dialogue and the shooting schedule were dizzying, but I think the choice to film sequences that could have been created in computer graphics gives a retro atmosphere to the game and brings more realism to the interpretation. I can’t wait to see players fully immerse themselves in the mysteries of the Shijima family, the murders and love that transcend time and space. adds Yuta Hiraoka.

People who will buy The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story before May 19, 2022 will also receive The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story BEHIND THE SCENES ; a bonus that contains 50 minutes of interviews; and a mini soundtrack composed by Yuki Hayashi, Daiki Okuno, Ryoshi Takagi, Shuichiro Fukuhiro, and Shogo Yamashiro.
