Instead of Cal Kestis, a black man or a woman could have played the main role in “Jedi: Fallen Order”. A former Respawn developer explained why the senior developers ultimately chose a white man.
The main character’s appearance and gender weren’t set from the start. Several developers of the responsible team advocated namely a black or a female character. Nora Shramek, who used to work at Respawn Entertainment, said this recently on Twitter.
However, the leaders in the team rejected these suggestions for the following reasons: With Cere Junda and Saw Gerrera, two black figures were already planned. And because the latest “Star Wars” trilogy has a female protagonist in Rey, they wanted to do without a woman here. Ultimately, Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis was named the main character.

In the foreseeable future you can slip into the skin of Cal Kestis again. Respawn has been working on a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for a long time. Apparently the release was originally planned for 2022, but this project could also become one delay come. At least that’s what well-connected industry insider and video game editor Jeff Grubb claims. If this is the case, a release next year is to be expected.
Another one rumor from the same source speaks of an exclusive current-gen release. In this case, only the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC would be served. In any case, the official presentation could take place at the Star Wars Convention, which will be held from May 26th to 29th.
