The decision-makers at Apple will not be particularly enthusiastic: With a small detour, Fortnite fans with iPhones can again play Fortnite mobile, thanks to Microsoft’s cloud gaming service Xbox Cloud Gaming. This circumvents the Apple ban from Fortnite from the App Store, which has been active for around two years because Apple and Epic Games are arguing in court.

Oh! For about two years, Fortnite fans have not been able to find the Battle Royale game in the app store of their iOS devices. The reason: Apple and Epic Games are in a legal battle. And why that? Because those responsible for Epic gave Fortnite players the chance to buy V-Bucks from the app, not via the app store, but cheaper via the Epic website. The people at Apple didn’t find that funny at all, because then they missed the fees for the not exactly few V-Buck sales – after all, 30 percent of the transaction price ends up with the Apple group.

Long story short: The people from Apple and Epic bickered, Apple threw Fortnite from the Appstore, Epic went to court as a kind of modern Robin Hood. Because the fees that Apple charges are too high in the eyes of many app developers and often have to be passed on to users. Since then, it hasn’t been possible to play Fortnite Mobile on an iOS device… until the recent appearance of Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming service.
