Apple has decided to officially discontinue production of the iPod touch player, as its features and functions are already available in other company products.

The iPod touch is the latest in the iPod lineup. Unfortunately, the company has not updated it since May 2019.

“Music has always been part of our core at Apple, and bringing it to hundreds of millions of users in the same way that the iPod has impacted not only the music industry, it has also changed how music is found, listened to and distributed.

Today, the spirit of the iPod lives on. From iPhone to Apple Watch and HomePod mini, as well as Mac, iPad and Apple TV, we’ve integrated incredible music listening experiences into all of our products. And Apple Music offers industry-leading audio quality with spatial audio support—there’s no better way to enjoy, discover, and experience music,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing.

Apple introduced the first iPod 21 years ago, in October 2001. At the time, it was a revolutionary music device that allowed Apple fans to keep thousands of songs in their pockets. Apple introduced many iterations of the iPod, including the iPod Shuffle, iPod nano, and iPod touch.

The ‌iPod touch‌ will be available for purchase on the Apple website, Apple retail stores, and authorized resellers while stocks last.
