Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams will be joining the cast of Apple TV+’s upcoming series A New Look. The drama is set during the Nazi occupation of Paris during World War II, with CoCo Chanel ruling as the world’s most famous fashion designer. This reign comes to an end as Christian Dior’s fame rises as he introduces his innovative and iconic brand to the world.
Williams joins the series’ main characters Ben Mendelsohn, who plays Christian Dior, and Juliette Binoche, who plays Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. She will play the role of Catherine Dior, Christian’s younger sister and recipient of the Medal of Honor for Courage.
Apple previously announced the show in February:
Inspired by true events and filmed exclusively in Paris, A New Look is a World War II-era live-action action film centered on the turning point of the twentieth century, when Paris brought the world back to life through its fashion icon, Christian Dior (played by Mendelssohn), whose creations dominated world fashion in the decade after World War II. The intertwined saga will include the amazing stories of Dior’s contemporaries and rivals: the grand dame Coco Chanel (played by Binoche), Balmain, Balenciaga, Givenchy, Pierre Cardin, Yves Saint Laurent and many more.
On Game of Thrones, Williams played Arya Stark for all eight seasons, earning numerous Emmy Award nominations for her performance. Variety reports that she is also working on another series, Pistol, which follows the famous English punk rock band The Sex Pistols.
Written, Directed, and Executive Produced by A New Look by Todd A. Kessler.
