Beat ’em ups are one of the classic game genres, for example many of you will surely have played one of the old Battletoads parts. Luckily, there are still plenty of genres being released these days, and at this year’s Summer Game Fest we received a new trailer for an upcoming spin-off.

New beat ’em up coming out in August this year

In Midnight Fight Express you take on the role of a former member of the criminal underworld who has now been sucked back into it by a mysterious drone. You only have until sunrise to save the entire city, and of course you’ll have to beat up some evildoers to do so. As the game’s description reads, in Midnight Fight Express you’ll engage in “brutal and hyper-kinetic mayhem using every street fighting technique and environmental element imaginable.”

You can also improve your skills and follow a wide skill tree, which lets you learn some devastating combat moves. If mere fist fights are too boring for you, you can expand your arsenal with knives, axes and sledgehammers. Pistols, shotguns, and explosives are also among the choices.

The title is scheduled to be released on August 23, 2022 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. If you’re already curious, then there is on Steam currently also a free demo version, in which you can already extensively explore the beginnings of the game. By the way, the demo is part of the Steam Next Fest, which is scheduled to officially launch next week. Numerous demo versions of upcoming games await you here.
