Just like Sony, Nintendo also announced today its latest sales figures. Among other things, they mentioned that they have now sold a total of more than 107 million Switch consoles. It also means that they sold six million more units than they did with the Wii and that number will of course only grow.

Like Sony, however, sales have declined, which is to blame for the ongoing component shortage.

However, the games continue to sell really well and sales of them are higher than ever on any of Nintendo’s platforms.

Sony has now sold 19 million Playstation 5

Sold two million consoles last quarter

Sony now says that they sold two million Playstation 5 in the last quarter of last year, which means that they now sold a total of 19.3 million consoles according to the latest figures. Deliveries are lower than the year before, when Sony sold 3.3 million consoles. This means that Playstation 5 ends up even further away from Playstation 4 when it comes to sales, when PS4 was as old as PS5 is now, 3.1 million consoles were sold in an equally long period. Not entirely unexpectedly, however, it is not that Sony has no buyers, it is instead the lack of components that makes up for it. When it comes to game sales, it went a little better with 70.5 million PS4 / PS5 titles sold compared to 61.4 million a year ago. Sony hopes that sales will pick up again and says that they expect increased sales of 34 percent next quarter. The company will also soon launch new PS Plus subscriptions.
