Among the games highlighted during the Devolver Digital Direct, a certain The Plucky Squire made a strong impression thanks to its original concept and its amazing artistic direction.
The nice surprise!
The gameplay trailer first showed Jot, the game’s hero, battling dark forces through the pages of a book in 2D action phases. Chased from the book by Humgrump, he finds himself in a 3D world and must fight to save his friends and restore the happy ending to his story.
The title therefore mixes 2D and 3D and offers phases of action, puzzles or even mini-games in an epic adventure. The environments are successful and those in 3D are sometimes reminiscent of a certain It Takes Two.
The Plucky Squire will be released in 2023 on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch and we can’t wait to discover more.
